Bullitt County is one of the fastest growing parts of the Louisville area, and it's easy to see why. I-65 runs right through the middle of the county, so getting to downtown Louisville, the airport or the big employers along the interstate is quick. Shepherdsville is the county seat and Mt. Washington, on the eastern side, is the largest city.
You'll find a little bit of everything here: older homes in town, a lot of newer subdivisions, and rural properties out toward the Nelson County line. Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest near Clermont is a local favorite for hiking, and bourbon fans will recognize the Jim Beam American Stillhouse right off I-65.
Because Bullitt County sits between Louisville and Bardstown, it's often where my clients end up when they want a shorter commute than Nelson County but more space than Jefferson County.
Each part of the county has a different feel. Here's a quick look at where buyers ask me about most.

About 1,031 homes sold in Bullitt County over the past year. With 322 on the market at the end of September, that works out to roughly 3.7 months of inventory. That's still on the seller-friendly side of balanced, so well-priced homes move, but buyers have more room to negotiate than they did a few years ago.
Market figures cover residential homes sold through the MLS from October 2025 through September 2026, pulled from Flexmls. “Typical sale price” is the middle of the monthly median sale prices for that period. Numbers are a snapshot, not an appraisal, and every home is different. Ask me for current numbers on your street.
I looked at homes that actually sold for $235,000 to $265,000 in recent months. Here's what that money typically got buyers in each area I work in.

| Nelson County | In Cox's Creek, mostly newer 3 bed, 2 bath homes around 1,400 sq ft. Out toward New Haven and Bloomfield, older homes with bigger lots, sometimes close to an acre. | $286,000 |
